Partly a travel book, partly a cookbook. Suzanne Carreiro tells us the tradition of Umbria through recipes and characters. Each chapter, eight in total, tells the story of a local cook in terms of experience and of course in terms of food they prepare. Prior to writing “The dog who ate the truffle”, Suzanne long career in food included developing recipes and writing for major publications and food companies, styling food for photography and knowing about wines, especially Italians. In addition, she is passionate about using good, fresh ingredients, preferably organic and locally grown, so that Umbria provides the perfect tools for her inspiration.  After spending there one year, the author decided it was time to put all her knowledge, discoveries and culture in words and let the readers enjoy them. The book is filled with anecdotes further characterising Umbrian tradition, especially about food.
