VISIT SPELLO AND THE MOUNTAIN OF S.FRANCESCO

A 3 DAY TOUR TO VISIT SPELLO AND DISCOVER MOUNT SUBASIO
DAY 1
Arrival in Spello, a former important Roman colony: it hosts the magnificent still preserved Properzio towers and a Roman domus. Inside the Cathedral, the Baglioni Chapel entirely frescoed by Pinturicchio. The narrow streets in the historical centre of the town and the artisans’ shops are very typical. Meeting with a sculptor or painter from Spello. Transfer to Collepino di Spello, a medieval castle build in white and pink stone, from which you can have an astonishing view on the entire Umbria valley. Accommodation in a B&B and dinner in a traditional restaurant.
DAY 2
After breakfast, excursion on the Olive Trees Path towards Spello, along the Roman acqueduct with an experienced naturalistic writer guide, between culture and nature. At the end, typical products tasting in the centre of Spello. Transfer to Assis through Monte Subasio, following the itinerary of San Francis through fields and woods and stopping to visit hermitages and countryside churches. Visit to the Eremo delle carceri. Farm accommodation and dinner in a traditional restaurant.
DAY 3
After breakfast, excursion to the whereabouts of Assisi following a section of the Via di Chiara, the route that Chiara di Assisi took the night that she escaped home to follow her vocation. At the end of the half-day excursion, you can decide either to end the trip here, or continue to travel around Umbria with another itinerary, for example “Roman Assisi: enrichment for the soul and relax for the body”.
